Thursday 2nd October 2025
Ofer Falk and the English Chamber Orchestra Graduates Ensemble
PROGRAMME:
Holst: St Paul’s Suite
Dvořák: Romance in F minor Op. 11 (arr. for strings)
Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major Op. 61 (arr. for soloist and strings)
Ofer Falk brought an ensemble from the English Chamber Orchestra strings in March 2024. The concert was so well received that we are repeating the event in a second visit with, of course, different music. Their decision to play a chamber arrangement of Beethoven’s great Violin Concerto is not to be missed.
Born in Israel in 1967, Ofer studied with the legendary pedagogue Ilona Feher in Tel-Aviv and later with Professor Dora Schwarzberg in Vienna.
He has also been coached by Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zuckerman, Josef Gingold, Menahem Pressler and members of the Guarneri and the Borodin Quartet.
As well as teaching at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, Ofer is also a Professor at Trinity College of Music in London.
The English Chamber Orchestra has been performing across the UK and globally for over 60 years and is the most recorded chamber orchestra in the world. From its beginning, the ECO has worked consistently with the most significant musical figures in classical music starting in 1960 with its first patron Benjamin Britten. The ECO celebrates and builds upon its tradition of maintaining the highest international musical standards, nurturing new talent and focusing on the ‘best of British’ music and musicianship.
